Block Base Sew Along - Block 4 - #2049

This block was relatively simple to make.  As with the three previous blocks, I used the Chateau Rouge line of fabrics by French General of Moda Fabrics.

River City Quilter's Guild

November 16-18 is the quilt show for the RCQG (River City Quilter's Guild).  It is a small guild with a spectacular show.

I agreed to help the Vendor Chairperson.  One way that we raise money is to sell floor space to vendors.  They in turn, sell their merchandise.  We had four rooms that they were to occupy:  the Main Exhibit Hall, the "small" room off the the main hall, the Bruno Room in the back and a new room which we called the "front room."  We mark the areas that they can set-up their booths.  They keep their merchandise within the space that they have paid for.  Kitty and I showed up at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, to place tape on the floor.  We were done by 2 p.m.  The judging was done that morning in the Bruno Room and there was a large group of people that were putting the apparatus to display the quilts in the Main Exhibit Hall.

These were my favorite quilts:

Both of them were pieced by Linda Bergman.  They are from paper pieced patterns.  The pink quilt is a pattern from Judy Niemeyer and the one below is a paper pieced pattern from Linda Stone.

The show was so much fun but it was difficult dealing with some of the vendors.  Some of them acted like small children.  They went over the space that they paid for and I suspect that one of them lied to me about speaking to the vendor chair and getting her permission to use a larger area outside of their designated and paid for boundary.

EQ7 - Blockbase Sew Along                Block #2448

Block #2448 is due today.  I have used French General's Chateau Rouge fabrics for the first three blocks.

I have found that the blocks we have been asked to do have been fairly easy but they are not blocks that I am familiar with.  This was fun.

November 3 - 5, 2012

I did not quilt at all from November 3rd to 5th.  My husband and I went to San  Diego to visit our youngest daughter.  She attends UCSD and is having a wonderful time.

I did however travel to the famous Rosie's Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop near San Diego State.  It is always so much fun to go there and shop for fabric, notions, quilting books and Janome sewing machines.  They have the most wonderful selection of books, a large notions area and a huge selection of fabric.  I usually don't buy a large amount when I go because I am overwhelmed by all of the fabric that I don't know what to buy.  I came this weekend with a list in hand and purchased more Kaffe fabrics so that I could have all the fabrics that I need to make a quilt from the pattern that I purchased last week from Back Porch Quilt Shop in Pacific Grove.  I wish I had some pictures to show you from Rosie's Quilt Shop but I forgot to turn off my camera after we took a trip earlier in the day to the San Diego Harbor.
